Arsenal has shown the signing of former Chelsea winger and running agent Willian, with the Gunners beating a number of opponents to get the Brazilian.
Willian proved that he left Chelsea after seven years last weekend, having failed to agree on new situations when Frank Lampard tried to stay with him after a campaign.
The Brazilian had two offers from Premier League sides, two more from European clubs and a lucrative deal to move to Major League Soccer.
But if Arsenal won the race to signal it, the 32-year-old signed a three-year contract worth 100,000 euros a week.
Speaking after the agreement was confirmed, the technical director Edu told Arsenal’s official website: ‘I know him very well for a long time because we have been running in combination for the Brazilian national team and, of course, I follow him because he plays for some other club.
“He has many attributes as a person, as a footballer of course, his character.
“I’m 100 percent sure everyone in the locker room, the fans, Mikel and I will appreciate having Willian on our side.”
Mikel Arteta would have been the driving force behind the deal, with Arsenal’s boss willing to convey Willian’s joy to his young team and his winning mindset and culture.
Willian missed Chelsea’s last two matches of the season with an ankle injury, and saw the arsenal win the FA Cup at Wembley before the Blues were sent off from the Champions League through Bayern Munich.
Despite his years of advancement, Willian has enjoyed the peak productive season of his career in the 2019/20 campaign, scoring nine Premier League goals and demonstrating his influence after the season restart.
Willian played 339 games for Chelsea after signing for Russian Anzhi Makhachkala for 30 million pounds in 2013, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.
In an open letter to The Chelsea’s hobby, he wrote: “The time has come to move on. I walk up with my head, knowing that I’ve won things here and that I’ve done as productive as possible with a Chelsea shirt.”
“There were so many moments of satisfaction, some sad, there were trophies and it was very intense.”
Willian is probably one of many newcomers to Arsenal this summer, with Arteta pointing out a new central defender and several midfielders with a variety of skills, while the club hopes to announce a new deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shortly.
