Willian received the 12th jersey after completing Chelsea’s move to Arsenal on a loose transfer.
The 32-year-old reportedly signed a three-year contract worth 220,000 euros a week in the Emirates after failing in a deal with the Blues.
Willian brings much joy to Mikel Arteta’s team after winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Europa League in his seven years at Stamford Bridge.
After confirming the deal, Arsenal also announced that the Brazilian would wear the number 12 shirt, a highest-ranked shirt recently through Stephan Lichtsteiner and Olivier Giroud, who is now a Chelsea player.
Willian has won donations from several clubs, but has chosen to be part of Mikel Arteta’s exciting mission at Arsenal.
Technical director Edu told the club official that his compatriot would bring a number of clever qualities to his new role.
Edu said: “I’ve known him very well for a long time because we’re looking into a combination for the Brazilian national team and, of course, I’m following him because he plays for another club.”
“He has many attributes as a person, as a footballer of course, his character.
“I’m 100 percent sure everyone in the locker room, the fans, Mikel and I will appreciate having Willian on our side.”
