NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are among the many keeping an eye on Nottingham Forest star Murillo as relegation becomes a genuine option for the club.
On Monday, Forest was sanctioned with a four-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit, profitability and sustainability rules.
This has left Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the relegation zone, one point behind 17th-placed Luton Town with nine games remaining.
Forest will most likely appeal the sanction but will look to sell players this summer due to additional financial issues.
Among their most valuable assets is Murillo, who has inspired since his £15m transfer from Corinthians last summer.
Since arriving at the City Ground, the centre-back has started every single league game and 4 of Forest’s five FA Cup clashes.
The 21-year-old has a contract until 2028, but the price Forest can sell him for will depend on his ability to be relegated to the league.
But if Murillo were to pass up the sale, there would be no shortage of potential buyers, with the Daily Mail reporting that many clubs in the Premier League and across Europe are interested in his services.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle are “following the defender’s progress”, while PSG and Barcelona are also enthusiastic.
At least one of Forest’s star players is set to be sold this summer, with The Times claiming they want to make around £30m in profit from the sales so they can further breach regulations.
Key midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and forward Taiwo Awoniyi are among the other names that could be on the move list.
