EINDHOVEN, Netherlands (AP) — Eddie Nketiah scored his first Champions League goal as Arsenal drew 1-1 at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
Nketiah gave Arsenal the lead in the 42nd minute at the Philips Stadion, but Yorbe Vertessen equalized five minutes after the break.
Both teams had already confirmed their places in the knockout stage of the tournament ahead of their final game in Group B, with Arsenal guaranteed the top spot.
As a result, Mikel Arteta fielded a much-changed squad by naming key players such as Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka on the bench.
But Arsenal still took the lead through Nketiah shortly before the break.
Vertessen had already hit the post for PSV and Mohamed Elneny had also hit the post for the visitors just as the impasse was broken. Nketiah’s low shot hit the post.
Vertessen made an effort early in the second half and tied the game with a curling shot that beat Aaron Ramsdale.
Arsenal narrowly avoided defeat when PSV’s Ismael Saibari hit the post for the Dutch side later in the match.
