Arsenal has several clubs to point to young defence Gabriel

The central defender has to sign for the London as a whole in what will be noticed as a first step in the right direction for Arsenal fans.

Having beaten Manchester United, Everton and Napoli by Gabriel’s signature, Gunners enthusiasts expect the 22-year-old to be the missing link to save his defense with flight.

The young Brazilian joins Arsenal with a long-term contract with French Lille on a move worth around 27 million pounds.

Arsenal has struggled in defence, probably since the mid-2000s, and the arrival of the young central defense will strengthen a domain that Mikel Arteta has desperately sought to strengthen.

The characteristics of head coach Arteta in defence will be further reinforced by William Saliba, who spent last season on loan at Saint-Etienne, after signing $27 million from the French club last summer.

Central defender Gabriel, who played 34 games in all competitions last season, while Lille finished fourth in Ligue 1, also played all six games at the Lille Champions League organization level last season and is Arsenal’s first signing.

Willian ended his move from rival Chelsea in mid-August, in what has already been a busy window for the Gunners.

“We welcome Gabriel to Arsenal,” Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said on the club’s website.”It has many qualities that will make us more powerful as a defensive unit and as a team.

“He has shown with Lille that he is a defender with many notable attributes and we look forward to seeing him grow as an Arsenal player.”

Technical director Edu added: “We are very happy to have signed Gabriel. He’s a player we’ve been reading for a while and asked through a lot of clubs, so we’re proud to have accepted and finished this play with Lille and the player.

“Gabriel is a high-quality player and Mikel and his coaches are ahead of their integration into the club.”

Gabriel, named Gabriel dos Santos Magalhaes, is the player of the moment to sign for Arsenal from Lille in the last 12 months, following the transfer of the Ivorian foreigner Nicolas Pepe to the Emirates for a record 72 million pounds last summer.

The defender is a welcome addition to the Arsenal team, which has many features in defence, and Gunners enthusiasts and their coach expect Gabriel to be an instant hit.
