“We know we’re not where we need to be and we’re ahead of ourselves to get to where we need to be, as fast as we can,” he said.

“Our goal is to re-compete and win the biggest trophies in the game and if you are Arsenal Football Club and if you are in the Premier League, there are two trophies that matter and that is the Premier League trophy and the champions. League trophy.

“That will have to be the purpose of a football club like Arsenal. It won’t be easy, it won’t be easy, there’s total competition, but that will have to be the purpose of this football club.”

Sanllehi thanked Venkatesham for his service to the Gunners, which he joined from Barcelona in September 2017.

His decomposition would be part of the club’s preference to simplify his off-field design and Arteta and Edu have already won Arsenal’s first signing of the summer in the form of Willian in a loose Move by Chelsea.

“We have two other people in Edu and Mikel who are guilty of our technical plan,” Venkatesham said.

“Of course, [this is] overseen by me and the board of directors, however, those two are the experts and have a very, very transparent plan on how they should rebalance our team in the short, medium and long term. -term. We started running it in this motion window.”

He added: ”I think it will be a complicated play window after the coronavirus, this is going to be rare and it’s going to be complicated, but we’ll keep working hard to achieve our goals with the team and Edu and Mikel have a very transparent plan on how they’d like to do this.

Arsenal finished eighth last season, 10 issues from the four most sensitive, but finished the cross with a win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final to qualify for the Europa League.

It is the first trophy of Arteta’s career, having replaced Unai Emery who fired in December.

“We started last season with a lot of expectations, we were ahead and we were up and unfortunately it didn’t go as we wanted,” Venkatesham admitted.

“But despite all the demanding situations that have presented us this season, our team, our players and our football team have continued to fight and have continued to fight until the end.

“We saw August 1 at Wembley, we won our 14th – a record of 14th – FA Cup, which is a sign of progress. I think we can look long-term with some optimism.

“I think at Mikel Arteta we have a safe and dynamic head coach. It is a wonderful team with Edu Gaspar, who is our technical director.

“And if we take a look at our academy, I think we’re in good hands with Per Mertesacker and we have some of the most exciting young skills in the league.”
