Arsenal: Mikel Arteta sends a message in the middle of Kieran Tierney talks about the Celta return

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is in talks about a return to Celtic.

Tierney will be out of contract at the end of the season after Arsenal chose to take the extension of a year in its existing agreement.

The 27 -year -old defender must indicate an agreement prior to the contract with foreign clubs now and Celtic is in conversations with him.

It remains to be seen whether the Scottish champions should ramp up any deals and point to Tierney in January before he is a loose agent this summer.

Tierney joined Celtic Arsenal in 2019 for an agreement of £ 25 million in the region.

He is a key player for the Gunners and was instrumental in their FA Cup win in 2020.

But left-back Mikel Arteta has since moved into the pecking order and spent last season in the real partnership.

Tierney would have left Arsenal last summer, however, he suffered an injury to the hamstrings for the game for Scotland in euros 2024.

Since then, he has made an appearance, from Arsenal in his victory over Crystal Palace last month in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.

Asked whether any players will be allowed to leave in January, Arteta said on Friday: “All the players that are here, they want to focus on performing and impacting the team and if something happens there then we will assess it.”
