Arsenal are completing the move of Ajax goalkeeper Tommy Setford with the aim of making him a component of their tour of the United States.
The Gunners have agreed a payment of around €1m with Ajax and the 18-year-old is expected to join Arsenal’s goalkeeping department.
Ajax had wanted to keep Setford, but he had one year left on his contract and was not willing to sign new terms.
His move to Arsenal is said to be in the final stages and hope that he can be part of the club’s tour of the United States is over.
The Gunners travel on Sunday and play their first game at Bournemouth on Wednesday.
They will then play matches against Manchester United and Liverpool before returning to the UK.
Karl Hein is expected to be number one on the tour given that Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya will be on holiday after Euro 2024.
Hein started Arsenal’s friendly against Leyton Orient on Saturday, which was played behind closed doors.
The Gunners won 2-0 thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe.
Hein played the first 70 minutes and replaced young goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard, who joined Arsenal in the summer.
Arsenal are expected to take several to the United States as the senior players are on vacation.
Ayden Heaven started as a centre-back in the win over Orient, while Myles Lewis-Skelly took the green light at left-back.
Ethan Nwaneri, who, like Heaven and Lewis-Skelly, has been pointed out with wonderful things, had a few minutes on the bench.
