Arsenal have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain to signal Fabian Ruiz, to reports.
Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to expand their squad in the summer move window, and are close to agreeing a €50m (£42. 1m) deal to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.
Arsenal are also reportedly looking for a new attacking player as well as a new central midfielder for the new season.
And according to Duncan Castles, last season’s Premier League runners-up now have to move on to Ruiz thanks to his excellent performances with Spain at Euro 2024.
“Arsenal are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for Spanish foreign midfielder Fabian Ruiz,” Castillos said on The Transfers Podcast.
“The discussions depend, I said, on whether Arsenal take a player out of midfield.
“Most likely, if they manage to reach an agreement with PSG on the transfer, it will be structured in the same way as the deal they used to bring David Raya from Brentford last summer, in the sense that it’s a loan with a legal responsibility to buy out a year later.
Ruiz joined PSG from Napoli for an initial €21. 5m (£18. 5m) in August 2022.
The 28-year-old has struggled to secure a normal midfield role since arriving in the French capital, starting 21 Ligue 1 games in his first campaign, while under Luis Enrique last season he started just 14 league games.
However, Ruiz played an important role for Spain at Euro 2024 and one of the most outstanding players in the tournament with two goals and two assists.
Asked about his future earlier this month, Ruiz told Le Parisien: “I know my decision shows up in every window of movement.
“But I’m satisfied with Paris. I still have 3 years left on my contract and I still have a lot of goals with PSG.
