Arsenal vs Sevilla: Odegaard absent as Arteta tries to avoid rot in Champions League draw: kick-off time, team news and how to follow

Arsenal will be hoping to get back to winning tactics when they face Sevilla in the Champions League tonight.

The Gunners saw their unbeaten run in the Premier League come to an end with a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta had already noticed his team crumbling since the Carabao Cup when they lost 3-1 to West Ham and will desperately want a win.

Arsenal beat Europa League winners Sevilla 2-1 two weeks ago and know a win would put them on the brink of qualification.

The North Londoners would possibly be confident of beating Sevilla this season, but the Spaniards are used to beating the odds.

The Nervionenses have an impressive record against English teams and it is well documented, with the club winning six of their eight knockout or final matches against English opponents.

But Diego Alonso’s team is on English soil and opposes Premier League teams on impartial grounds.

Sevilla have lost just one of their last five visits to those shores, beating Manchester United and Wolves and preventing Chelsea and Liverpool from drawing with them.

Only Leicester City have managed to take over Sevilla in England since 2015.

In the Foxes’ Champions League campaign, the now-championship leaders beat Sevilla 2-0 after the visitors sent off a player and missed a penalty.

Arsenal can take solace in the fact that they are one of three groups to have beaten Sevilla at a European festival on their home turf, winning 3-0 in 2007.

Piers Morgan Arteta will bring Aaron Ramsdale back to the Arsenal squad and eliminate David Raya.

“I still don’t perceive [David] Raya’s trick in goal,” Morgan told talkSPORT.

“On the goal that was never conceded, he made another stupid mistake.

“Aaron Ramsdale watches us week in and week out. Does Raya show anyone that he’s an improvement over Ramsdale?I don’t think that’s the case.

“I think, unfortunately, all the tension was created entirely through Arteta, who said he was going to have two number ones.

“Nobody believed that when he said that, and it’s transparent that he thinks Raya is his number one.

“I don’t think Arsenal’s top fans will view this scenario with confidence in our goalkeeper.

“So he [Mikel Arteta] managed to destabilise the goalkeeper’s situation; he didn’t buy a world-class striker, and I think those are big question marks about Arteta.

“If I looked at last season, when we suppressed the name and reflected, how are we going to win the name?

“Signing Declan Rice was great, but he didn’t find a striker and stepped up in the goalkeeper role.

“Personally, I would bring Ramsdale home with something to prove. I think he’s a better goalkeeper.

“I don’t mind Raya’s tricky footwork; If he can’t prevent goals, then I’m afraid he won’t be in goal.

“A goalkeeper’s first service is to prevent goals from being scored, not to play like Zinedine Zidane. “
