Arsenal ‘will compete with Barcelona’ for a non-contract defender

Arsenal are said to be in a position to fit the horns with Barcelona in an attempt to lose Agent Malang Sarr.

The 21-year-old defender left the former Nice club after his ligue 1 contract expired.

Sarr turned down an extension with Nice, who finished fifth in the table after the French national season was reduced.

Barcelona has an eye on the central defender and would like to take it for nothing.

But according to The Mail, Arsenal would also be interested in Sarr’s services, in the existing economic climate, as their lack of moving fees is very useful.

Sarr made a total of 20 appearances for Nice last season, but has played more than a hundred times for the club since making his deyet at the age of 17.

He has also represented France in all grades of young people under the age of 16 to under the age of 21 with a high-level call on the horizon.

Serie A trio A, Atalanta, Torino and Fiorentina are among a multitude of clubs that follow Sarr’s situation, Arsenal and Barca are believed to be the main candidates.

However, the key to Sarr’s decision will be normal game time, which can influence the next step.

Arsenal need their defensive characteristics, but has already signed William Saliba from St-Etienne and is about to get Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.

In addition, the Gunners have completed the permanent acquisition of Pablo Mari while David Luiz has recently signed a new contract.

Barcelona, meanwhile, has several more sensitive defenders in its ranks, but is in the early stages of reconstruction under new boss Ronald Koeman.

Gerard Piqué’s position at the club is risky as Samuel Umtiti is expected to be among the players unloaded this summer.

This may leave room for Sarr to make his way on the team and previously admitted this year that he would like to move to Spain.
