Mikel Arteta praised the functionality of Alexandre Lacazette in the club’s official after his team’s 1-0 loss to Leicester City last night.
Lacazette decided to start as Arsenal’s striker, but lost his most productive chance of the game.
The French striker had a close start, having been selected through Hector Bellerin, and this unbridled one proved costly.
Leicester, however, punished Arsenal behind and won all 3 points.
Lacazette was the subject of many complaints on social media after the match, but Arteta stood firm with her starting striker.
“Obviously the strikers want goals and he started tonight, he looked strong and was competitive in his game,” Arteta said.
“Yes, he had the opportunity to score for that purpose and did not. I give them more confidence and [help] them check to create more. “
Many Arsenal enthusiasts now call for Lacazette to be eliminated and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang transferred to a central attack role.
Aubameyang has not yet reached its most sensitive form this season from a wider location, and there is a sense that it may be more effective in the middle.
Arsenal’s loss to Leicester has lately been 10th in the Premier League standings.
