Aston Villa have reportedly entered the picture to sign Borussia Dortmund ace Karim Adeyemi, with Juventus pushing to capture him and Chelsea keeping an eye on the situation.
Adeyemi spent time at Red Bull Salzburg and FC Liefering in Austria before making his first move in July 2022, when Dortmund came calling. The Bundesliga giants paid Salzburg €30 million for Adeyemi and since then the striker has scored 14 goals and 8 assists in 66 games.
The speedy left winger, who can also play on the right flank or as a centre-forward, has a contract with Dortmund until June 2027, but is unlikely to honour that deal.
On July 8, appeals showed TEAMtalk that Chelsea were interested in Adeyemi as they looked to sign the left-wing striker to offer more competition to Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.
But Chelsea will most likely miss Adeyemi. Serie A giants Juventus have recently expressed interest in the 22-year-old and have begun talks with his representatives.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Juve have sent Adeyemi’s agents a formal contract proposal as they attempt to agree private terms before entering into talks with Dortmund over a potential transfer fee.
However, the Daily Mail claims that Aston Villa have joined Chelsea and Juve in the race for Adeyemi.
Villa’s president of football operations Monchi is an admirer of Adeyemi and was inspired by his performance in the Champions League final, which Dortmund lost 2-0 to Real Madrid.
Monchi has learned that the player is very open to a new challenge and is preparing his own technique to disrupt Juve’s plans.
It is claimed that Adeyemi will have to sign for £35m, a payment that Villa would probably find easier to get than Juve. The Bianconeri would possibly have to sell one of their existing players, such as Tottenham Hotspur target Federico Chiesa, before they can offer such a fee for Adeyemi.
Villa have already strengthened their ranks this summer with the signings of Jaden Philogene, Samuel Iling-Junior and Lewis Dobbin, with Adeyemi the newest striker on their shortlist.
If Villa beat Chelsea and Juve to capture Adeyemi, it would be their ninth arrival in the summer transfer window.
In addition to Philogene, Iling-Junior and Dobbin, Villa in Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Ross Barkley and Enzo Barrenechea.
