Aston Villa-Liverpool LIVE!
Jhon Duran scored twice in the final 10 minutes as Aston Villa drew 3-3 with Liverpool and moved them closer to Champions League qualification.
Villa looked dead and buried when Emiliano Martinez’s stunning mistake gave the Reds a second-minute goal, which he ruled through Youri Tielemans, before plays from Cody Gakpo and Jarell Quansah made it 3-1 in Jurgen Klopp’s last away game.
But Durán came off the bench to score twice in four minutes and put Villa on the brink of Champions League qualification for the first time.
The draw will guarantee them a top-four finish if Tottenham fail to beat Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Aston Villa may not have secured Champions League qualification in their 3-3 draw with Liverpool on Monday night, but the nature of their belated and spirited comeback meant they at least signed a very good year at Villa Park on a high note.
Things didn’t seem to be going that way when Emi Martinez scored his own goal in the second minute, but Villa got back on track thanks to a shot from Youri Tielemans.
Liverpool looked to have secured victory thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo and Jarell Quansah before Jhon Duran came off the bench to take a fine point with a late brace.

Recap the action at Villa Park with our fit report!
“Brilliant effort, I know we were a bit lucky with the third goal, but it’s been a difficult few weeks.
“The boys are on their feet, Youri has just come back and the pain barrier is being played. . .
“Big Jhon is a little crazy, it can be a nightmare to have him on your team, but the first one has a wonderful ending. We’ll have to try to keep our feet on the pitch in the next few days.
“Some of us have never been close to the Champions League, that’s huge. What has gone unnoticed are the injuries, but the coach has an unjustified mentality.
“We’ve been floating under the radar and we’re going to have the heights of Man City night!”
Aston Villa are five points clear of Tottenham in fourth place.
Spurs still have two games to play and want to win both, unlike Manchester City and Sheffield United, and at the same time overcome an eight-goal deficit on goal difference if Villa draws at Crystal Palace on the final day OR two wins will be enough if “Villa loses in south London”.
Aston Villa are struggling to win a 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool.
This takes them to the Champions League after a crazy night at Villa Park!
Villa to Liverpool’s corner, is it time for a definitive attack from both sides?
Villa need a handball from Virgil van Dijk in the box and VAR takes a look. It can’t be clear and obvious, she approached him when he fell at the festival by a head.
Simon Hooper continued to play and Liverpool won a goal kick.
SAVE!
The ball fell to Moussa Diaby on the edge of the area and a hard arm from Alisson Becker deflected it.
I wouldn’t have been able to return the goal if I had tried. . . !
NINE minutes added.
What a change of course this is. And it has still been done.
