European Europe continues to grow rapidly
After Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen finished their final Europa League matches last week, they now face each other as they struggle for a spot in the last four.
It is an intriguing fit between two of the most productive remaining groups in the competition, with Inter Milan as one of the favourites for the tournament.
Antonio Conte’s appearance beat Getafe 2-0 to make the eighth round, while Leverkusen put a dominant stand in the 4–1 win over Rangers.
Sanchez on tonight
Alexis Sanchez will officially play tonight as Inter Milan for the first time.
The Chilean spent the season on loan at San Siro and became permanent this week, officially finishing a two-and-a-half-year season at Manchester after joining Arsenal in January 2018.
Inter did have to pay a moving fee, all satisfied to let it go to withdraw his astronomical salary from his payroll.
And Sanchez is waiting for the chance to start with the Italian giants.
“I’m happy to stay here with you Inter fans,” Sanchez said on Inter’s website. “I discovered a circle of relatives here and the staff is great.
“[It is] an organization in which there is a genuine preference for winning anything important. The rest of the people here need to fight in combination as a team to give the club the good fortune it deserves.
“I am hungry and win, my purpose is to satisfy all our enthusiasts. I’m here to win and I’m happy to stay here at Inter.
Havertz, the one who should be attentive to The Leverkusen
All eyes will be on Kai Havertz tonight, as the young man remains connected to Chelsea.
The 20-year-old crowned Frank Lampard’s moving wish list this summer as he seeks to build a new attack following the acquisitions of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Havertz showed flashes of greatness in Leverkusen’s victory over the Rangers, failed to mark a purpose or help.
Leverkusen argued that Havertz would leave emphatically until the end of his Europa League campaign, while insisting that Chelsea would get discounts for the young flexible.
And while the German club is looking to continue its European journey, some Blues enthusiasts may be cheering on their former boss Antonio Conte tonight.
