At least 8 Serie A players tested for coronavirus

Milan (AP) – At least 8 Serie A players tested positive for the new coronavirus this week when they return from their truncated off-season.

The last clubs to announce on Thursday that they had instances among their players were Torino with two and Napoli with one.

Rome and Cagliari showed instances on Wednesday.

All 8 players are asymptomatic. The new season is scheduled to begin on September 19.

The number of positive cases in general in Italy is also increasing. The country reported 845 new instances on Thursday, the largest accumulation since May 16.

Italy is one of the countries most affected by coronavirus, with more than 35,000 deaths attributed to COVID-1nine. It is also the first country in Europe to close its football league on March 9.

Serie A resumed fans on 20 June and ended on 2 August, with Juventus winning a ninth consecutive league title, which extended the record.
