Atalanta points to Russian midfielder Alexei Miranchuk

BERGAMO, Italy (AP) – Atalanta on Friday signed Russian offensive midfielder Alexei Miranchuk for his first addition since the italian club’s loss in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Miranchuk joins Lokomotiv Moscow after scoring 12 goals in the Russian league last season and two against Juventus in the Champions League, and scored two goals in the first four games of the 2020–21 Russian season, which began last month.

Miranchuk is a flexible player who can play as a central offensive midfielder or as an extreme on any flank. This is the first time he has separated from his double brother Anton after his appearance in combination with Lokomotiv and for the Russian national team.

Atalanta only said that the deal is a permanent move and did not give main points on tariffs. Miranchuk joins former Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic as a summer signing for Atalanta, who was withdrawn from the Champions League after two goals won by Paris Saint-Germain Pasalic and signed permanently after spending two seasons on loan at Atalanta 2–1.
