Liverpool want one more European return with Jurgen Klopp as the Reds move to Atalanta in a bid to keep their Europa League hopes alive.
Klopp’s side were favourites to triumph in the final in Dublin on May 22 and bid farewell to the German coach, but Atalanta broke the script by stunning Anfield with a 3-0 win in the first leg of last week’s quarter-finals.
Liverpool have already recovered from a 3-0 defeat under Klopp, adding Barcelona and Lionel Messi in the Champions League in 2019, but that at Anfield. But Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace means the Reds are winless in three games. Check out the actions below and get the latest odds and tips here:
Atalanta hosts Liverpool in the Europa League quarter-finals, which kick-off at 20:00.

Now the end is near and Jurgen Klopp hasn’t even been able to do it his way. There hasn’t been a last major European comeback, the kind that actually marked the German’s legacy at Liverpool. Coming close to such a feat against a determined Atalanta indicates that there may not be one last big win in the Premier League either.
Rather than making everyone lament Klopp’s departure when perhaps there was much more to give, it was simply another play that illustrated that this era was, in fact, “running out of energy”, as he put it.
It was too much, in a way you don’t hear in a Klopp team.

Jürgen Klopp will speak to TNT.
He praised his team’s commitment and will and said it was a tough game.
“A bit of bad luck with Trent, if he’s a little bit fitter he might ride a bit more, but then we lost him. The longer the game went on, we replaced [things] but lost the structure. We may just not create properly, but we won the game and that’s what we were looking to show.
“Now we can in the league and that’s what we’re going to do.
“We made 67 shots in 3 games and didn’t win any. We didn’t play badly in that period. We have two and a half days to make sure we recover. That was the reaction we had to show.
“Let’s end this festival, we would have liked to move to Dublin. We only have one festival left and we put it all in. “

On TNT, Peter Crouch blamed Mo Salah for failing in the first half. The Egyptian failed to throw past Musso after catching the “goalkeeper in no man’s land”.
Presenter Jules Breach points out that 360 minutes have passed since Liverpool’s last goal in open play.

Virgil van Dijk is the first to appear in front of the cameras.
He credits Atalanta and Liverpool for putting up a “great fight. “
“The truth is that we are eliminated and we want to turn the tide very quickly. We want everyone to make the final push.
“We had a couple of chances. There was still time, [but] maybe we looked for it too quickly. Like I said, thanks to Atalanta.
When asked how complicated the game was, he replied that Liverpool created chances, but possibly would not have made the right decisions.
“We’re out of competition and that’s a bad feeling. Showing maturity, solidarity and professionalism is key.
“Everybody’s disappointed, but we don’t have much time to be disappointed. Anything is still possible. “

For Liverpool, the focus is on the Premier League title race. The Reds will travel to south London to face Fulham this weekend, before a midweek derby on Merseyside against Everton on April 24. They will then face West Ham, Spurs and Villa as they face each other. Try to catch Manchester City in the most sensible position in the table.
Atalanta continue their quest for the top five in Serie A and a Champions League berth next season. They will face Monza this weekend, before the Coppa Italia midweek draw against Fiorentina.
The Italian will face either Benfica or Marseille in the semi-finals, with the first leg on May 2.

The groups are back in the tunnel. Are we about to see Liverpool’s return to Europe?

Many substitutes are warming up at half-time for Liverpool, adding Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo and Darwin Nunez, but it doesn’t look like they’re going to arrive yet.
Part two on the way.

Another Liverpool goal before the hour mark would make this draw very interesting.
“A penalty all day and Salah is the best player in the stadium,” Peter Crouch told TNT Sports.
He also felt it had been a red card to Hien for that handball that prevented Diaz from running into the box.

Liverpool want even more attacking moves and chances than they have created so far: Salah scored a second, but he hasn’t had much else in open play yet.

Two more minutes. Gakpo is doing a smart job by retrieving the property and making a quick shot; He’s taken a lot of steps forward in the last few games.
Konate will have to produce a smart defense a while before the whistle.
At half-time, Liverpool are pretty much halfway to where they need to be, but so far they are in a moderate position, with a positive goal, although they are still down 3-1 on aggregate.
20:45, Karl Matchett
It was Salah’s turn to pass the pass to Diaz, who would rush into the box, but Hien leaned over and tried very deliberately. A yellow card for the defender, a warning also for Díaz for requesting a card for the Atalanta man.
From the central free kick and from 35 meters, Alexander-Arnold scored the goal but crashed directly into the wall.
20:42 , Karl Matchett
Trent Alexander-Arnold escaped twice. First he loses the ball and Scamacca pounces on Alisson, but the goalkeeper reacts temporarily and stops the ball to save it.
So the right back is deeper than the rest of his line and almost plays with Koopmeiners, who shoots into the back corner, but the offside flag is well up and may not count.
20:40, Karl Matchett
Gakpo makes a brilliant pass over the defence and Salah rushes to throw a lob at the goalkeeper. . . And he’s terribly wrong! It bounces away from the goal, in fact, wide. That can be easy for a striker of his quality – a huge missed chance for the Reds.
20:32, Karl Matchett
Scamacca shoots in front of goal and wide; this time he is not a danger, but Liverpool have let him pass past the centre-backs on several occasions.
Musso rushed out of the goal and sent it to Van Dijk, but the centre-back missed his attempt with a long-range half-volley.
Then, Gakpo, Diaz and Salah unleashed a counter-attack and almost snuck in, for one last challenge from Hien.
20:29 , Karl Matchett
Jones feeds Salah, who this time becomes the right channel, another shining example of positional rotation on the outside side.
Szoboszlai penetrated the right half several times to prove the same thing.
20:23 , Karl Matchett
Great move down the right for Liverpool as Szoboszlai and Alexander-Arnold blend into space, a cross discovers Jones at the far post and deflects it to Salah, who can’t and shoots from a central spot. Atalanta are content to sit back now and look to counterattack when they can.
20:19, Karl Matchett
Liverpool tech-savvy the game a week ago: much more rotation of positions and movement with the ball, trying to use the scoring formula of the Aalanta men who oppose them. There were no other chances on purpose and Musso looked confident with the superior balls aimed at him.
20:16 , Karl Matchett
Szoboszlai shoots from 20 yards and forces a save; Gakpo then sent a pass to Diaz, but the goalkeeper temporarily came out to prevent him from executing a loose shot.
Moments later, Van Dijk deflected a cross into his own goal: Alisson made a superb save to push the ball in!
20:12, Karl Matchett
Good, good. It’s a fast start the Reds might not have wanted. Now let’s see how the hosts react.
Klopp, keen for the visitors to keep up the pressure on Bergamo from the restart, Gasperini asked his players to remain calm.
20:11 , Karl Matchett
And Salah scores! A long VAR control, but the penalty was upheld and the number 11 sent it into the back corner, error.
The Reds have one of the 3 they want with just seven minutes on the clock.
20:10, Karl Matchett
Penalty for Liverpool! What a start!Alexander-Arnold’s cross is dealt with and the referee scores the spot!
20:09 , Karl Matchett
Scamacca makes a wide imbalance, Gakpo emerges from the depths and is fouled.
Van Dijk, on the other hand, needs medical attention after an obvious dislocated finger.
There is a lot of noise in the stadium and the Reds are temporarily out.
20:02, Karl Matchett
Liverpool got us on the road! Alisson, Trent, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson – it’s only the third time this season that Jurgen Klopp has faced this top-level goalkeeper and defender.

Since last week’s match, Liverpool lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace at Anfield, while Atalanta drew 2-2 with Verona in Serie A.
Atalanta are sixth in the league, having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five league games. Keep in mind that Serie A will likely get one more position in the Champions League next season due to other European results.
For Liverpool, the name race is still wide open even if it tilts in City’s favour. The Reds are in third place, two points behind Pep Guardiola’s men. Nothing is certain, but enthusiasts will know that the Europa League presents the most productive chance for the club to win. More covered in Klopp’s last season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will evoke the spirit of his return to Barcelona when he sends his side to keep their Europa League hopes alive against Atalanta in Bergamo.
The Reds have a 3-0 deficit to overcome in the first leg if they are to advance to the semi-finals, a situation that echoes their remarkable comeback to beat the Catalan side in the Champions League semi-finals in May 2019 at home. to win a sixth European Cup.
After that win, his players took notice of the emotional speech he gave in the dressing room before kick-off and Klopp said that while he didn’t have anything planned yet, he could use that brilliant evening at Anfield as a benchmark, even if he didn’t. Have that of a local audience.
“After the game (last week), everyone in the stadium was like, ‘That’s it. ‘Now, it’s a week later, I don’t think everyone thinks it’s already decided. “
“We need to win the game. If we need to win, we’d better play well. If we play well, we have a chance to win. Then we’ll see. “
Jurgen Klopp hopes Liverpool can evoke the spirit of Barcelona’s return to Atalanta
19:20, Chris Wilson
Before European matches like this, Jurgen Klopp does not prepare a speech. Most words come naturally. He’s already in the mood, knowing that he wants to inspire the same feeling of confidence in his players. There’s more than enough experience to draw on, whether it’s Klopp’s first season or his peak popularity.
Ahead of the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals at Atalanta, the Liverpool manager can point to the comeback against Borussia Dortmund at this same festival at this same festival 8 years ago or the legacy match that Barcelona played. The same kind of spirit that is now needed to overcome the Serie A side’s 3-0 thrashing.
The main message, of course, will be that if it can be done, then Liverpool can.
One potential difference from all those epics, however, isn’t just that this quarter-final second leg will be held at Anfield. That’s what Liverpool are doing at the moment.

Liverpool’s recent form stands in stark contrast to most of the season, and they themselves are on the brink of disappointing European competition and are in and out of the name race.
A 4-3 FA Cup win ended the quest for the quadruple and, Klopp said, “it was like a crisis because we were very smart and we lost it anyway. “A 2-2 draw in the Premier League followed two defeats for Liverpool at Anfield, against Atalanta and Crystal Palace on Sunday. “I’m not sure the way we’ve dealt with United’s games has been helpful,” Klopp said.
If this suggests that their mental monsters have lost their spirits in a crucial week, Liverpool’s collapse has been the cause of the weariness and form, of an aspect in the prolific past that has proven mediocre in both areas, of a team that, like the returning players are, in theory, as strong as they have been for months and who have just produced their two worst effects of the campaign.

Conor Bradley has been out for three weeks after injuring his ankle in the 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Alisson are now back from injury and will take part this weekend. Klopp made adjustments for the first leg, and may do so again given Liverpool’s Premier League game against Fulham on Sunday and they want to win each. and every game to have any chance of winning the title.

Liverpool will almost certainly be assured of next year’s Champions League knockout stages, but his functionality tonight could be next season for other English teams.
The Premier League’s hopes of clinching an extra Champions League position in next season’s revamped festival have been dashed after a poor evening of results in Europe.
The Champions League will be expanded to a 36-team tournament from 2024/25 and two of the four additional spots will be awarded to countries whose groups are participating in European competitions this season.
As UEFA showed on its website, England are lately in third place in the race, along with Italy and Germany, which would mean Serie A and the Bundesliga would finish in fifth place in the Champions League next season.

Football betting sites see the Reds as favourites to win that night, but Atalanta have already shown their quality against Klopp’s side and have every chance of securing their ticket to the semi-finals.
A house win is presented at 4/1, while a draw is presented at 4/1. A Liverpool win is the maximum likely outcome, with odds of 4/7.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool have fallen into the table of favourites to win the festival: they are in 11/1 place lately.
The favorites to win the Europa League are Bayer Leverkusen, with 5/4, and Atalanta, with 9/2.
