The midfielder has been a key component of Ajax’s good fortune in recent seasons, never greater than when he helped the Dutch giants dismantle Real Madrid in the Champions League in 2019.
It is certain that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reflect the skill he has shown in those games for the Old Trafford team.
“Donny has all the technical attributes to perform on this team and has the personality to succeed at Manchester United,” the Norwegian told Manchester United’s official website.
His ability to see space, time his movements and read the game will complement the qualities we have in the midfield and his arrival reinforces the intensity of skill we have in this position.
“Donny’s performances at the Eredivisie and Europe have been perfect in recent years and we are all ahead of running with him.”
Once the Premier League season begins, the Dutchman will form a midfield trio with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
If the club is also recruiting one or two new players to complete what it already has on the ground, United’s renaissance is likely to continue.
