Koeman is highly regarded by Barca for his career as a player in the successful team of Johan Cruyff known as Dream Team and for setting the goal that delivered the club’s first European Cup in 1992.
The defender then coached assistant club before embarking on a turbulent career as head coach, led the Dutch groups Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord, as well as the Premier League groups Southampton and Everton and Valencia of La Liga.
Spanish and Dutch media reported that Barca was in talks with Koeman, which led the Netherlands to qualify for the European Championships, which were postponed due to the Pandemic Covid-19.
