BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Great footballer Lionel Messi will miss Tuesday’s Spanish league match against Eibar while recovering from an uns specified ankle injury.
On a Sunday, the fifth-seeded Barcelonan said that “the team’s first player, Lionel Messi, is completing the repair of his right ankle and deserves to resume education after the FC Barcelona-SD Eibar match. “
Messi is reportedly in Argentina taking a short winter break after Barcelona gave his players time after their last match on 22 December in Valladolid.
Messi played the 90th minute of the 3-0 win over Valladolid and scored the 644th goal of his career for Barcelona to surpass Pelé’s all-time record for his clubs.
As of 1 January, Messi can negotiate with clubs as his contract with Barcelona expires in June.
After Eibar, Barcelona’s garter match will be played in Huesca on 3 January.
Messi made his Barcelona debut in 2004.
