Barcelona republish Dani Alves’ ‘legends’ website after the ex’s imprisonment for sexual assault

FC Barcelona have republished Dani Alves’ legendary profiles on their website after he discovered the culprit of a rape.

Alves, 40, was convicted of sexual assault in February and sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.

The Athletic reported that Barcelona removed a page about Alves in its “legendary players” segment following his conviction, only to republish it a few days later.

Barcelona told Sky News they had no comment on the reports. At the time of writing, the webpage is located on the club’s website.

Alves is found guilty of raping a 23-year-old woman on New Year’s Eve 2022 in the VIP personal bathroom of a central Barcelona nightclub called Sutton Club.

The victim told state prosecutors that on the night of the assault she danced with Alves and voluntarily entered the nightclub’s bathroom, but when she wanted to leave later, he wouldn’t let her.

She said he then slapped her, insulted her and forced her to have sex as he pleased.

Alves denied any wrongdoing at the trial, telling the court: “I’m not that kind of man. “

The court also ordered Alves to pay £150,000 (£128,000) to the victim and banned him from entering her home or communicating with her by any means for nine years.

Inés Guardiola, the former soccer player’s lawyer, stated: “I remain innocent of Mr. Alves.

“I’m awaiting sentencing, but I can tell you that we will, of course, appeal. “
