Barcelona are rumoured to be doing everything they can to sign striker Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig and are keen to sell a key player so that the deal can be sealed.
Gerard Romero, of Jijantes FC, has stated that Barcelona is in a position to sell a vital player to finance the transfer of Olmo.
Olmo will most likely leave Leipzig this summer after enjoying something of an escape with Spain after Pedri’s injury promoted him to normal starter.
However, with Olmo under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2027, all suitors will have to meet the asking price of the 25-year-old Spanish star.
Leipzig will be hoping to remain the flexible attacking player, but would let him leave for a whopping €60m (£50. 5m).
Barcelona’s search for Nico Williams is also a good priority for the club and signing the two Euro 2024 stars in a single window probably won’t come cheap.
Romero says the call that he learned Barcelona were willing to sell surprised him and he wondered if signing Olmo would be the cost.
In a Twitch broadcast, Romero said: “I’m not going to say a call, but today there were two representatives who called me from a Barça player who can be put on the market in case Dani Olmo arrives, and I didn’t expect that call. Are we in a position for Dani Olmo to arrive and someone important to leave? That would worry me.
It has been widely reported that Barcelona are looking to sign Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde and Frenkie de Jong, but Romero suggests the club would sell someone untouchable. His comments encourage speculation, with some suggesting that the call could be from someone as vital as Pedri or Ilkay Gundogan.
Olmo seems to be a smart pick for Barcelona, but the club would have to sell as they may have a significant sum to close the deal.
He played in Barcelona’s youth ranks but moved to Dinamo Zagreb before breaking into the first team.
However, Barcelona may withdraw the resolution and Manchester United may be in a position to respond to Leipzig’s assessment of Olmo, according to reports.
However, the suggestion that Barcelona are willing to take risks in the move market suggests they are confident in their team’s ability to challenge Real Madrid next season.
