Ludewig has played 18 times after joining Austrian Bundesliga champion Red Bull Salzburg in January and was inspired by a series of lively performances on the right.
On the return of Ludewig, Barnsley CEO Dane Murphy said: “It’s a wonderful deal for the club to have such a respectable young man with us again.
“Kilian excels in his adaptation last season. He’s on loan here, but you won’t have noticed his attitude in and around Oakwell.
“He enjoyed being with us, and it was a no-brainer for the club once we had the opportunity to bring him back.

Barnsley lately attends a pre-summer camp in St George’s Park, and Gerhard Struber returns to the club after his summer vacation.
The club has already agreed on contract extensions for several young players, goalkeeper Jack Walton and midfielders Romal Palmer and Matty Wolfe.
