All of Serie A’s top clubs and personalities have paid tribute to the late Fiorentina leader Joe Barone, who died at the age of 57, the club said on Tuesday.
Barone was rushed to hospital in critical condition on Sunday after suffering cardiac arrest hours before the scheduled Serie A clash between Fiorentina and Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium.
Atalanta-Fiorentina was postponed before kick-off, while Barone underwent surgery in the centre. He was reportedly alive after the procedure.
Fiorentina showed on social media on Tuesday afternoon that Barone had passed away at Milan’s San Raffaele hospital. He would have turned 58 on Wednesday.
Following Fiorentina’s confirmation, all the most sensible clubs in Serie A have expressed their condolences on social media.
