Sheffield United v Fulham: Chris Wilder in a difficult decision-making position
Leeds United has given the move a special touch with a new 20 million pound target update, Huddersfield Town has reached an agreement with the midfielder.
The Scot joined the Blackburn Rovers Championship team on loan for one season on the deadline, leaving the targets without a specialist left-back. 27 league start, with Stuart Dallas flexible in the spot.
Despite this, the Argentine said he was “very sad” about Douglas’ departure, with sporting director Victor Orta writing an open letter praising the 31-year-old’s contribution to the costumes.
“I am very sad that you have left our team because during the two years you have made a significant contribution and you are an impeccable professional and a reputable member of the team,” Bielsa said.
“As a left-back, I opted for Dallas, (Ezgjan) Alioski and (Leif) Davis, Douglas’ striker.
“These are decisions I have to make. For me, they were very difficult. Douglas deserved to play for Leeds and gave it his all to do it. I couldn’t handle him long enough to be consolidated into our team. “
“He’s a player who’s tried very hard and I’m a little sorry I couldn’t make it with us.
“Finally, a decision was made between Douglas, me and the club that deserves to go to Blackburn. I wish you the most productive of luck because you deserve it. He’s a player full of virtues and he’s done very vital things for us.
Douglas was sometimes his own worst enemy, and Bielsa cited the March 2019 match against Millwall, where he played with an injury at the end of the season because Leeds had used all three substitutes as an example.
“I can’t have played a game for us where he injured his knee for part of an hour,” Bielsa said. “It’s not very common. He had an idea of the team before him and put his knee in danger, which is very confusing position for a player to get injured.
