BELE, Switzerland (AP) – Days after the Europa League quarter-finals, Basel announced Wednesday that it is separated from coach Marcel Koller.
Basel said in a statement that Koller would not renew his contract after completing the Swiss Cup festival this month.
Basel goes to the semi-final behind after returning from the Europa League tournament in Germany, where he lost to Shakhtar Donetsk 4–1 last week.
Later on Wednesday, Basel said that three players had tested positive for COVID-19 and that a quarter who had spent time with them also ingested and missed the cup next Tuesday.
Koller took over in Basel two years ago after a successful season with the Austrian national team, adding the rankings for the 2016 European Championships.
He came here a year after finishing the streak of eight consecutive Swiss titles in Basel, and the team fell to third place last month, champion Young Boys.
Basel gave no main points on who will update Koller.
The 3 instances of the virus were known as Brazilian players Arthur Cabral and Eric Ramires, plus Eray C-mert of Switzerland. Basel said players did not travel to high-risk dominance during the educational break. The fourth player also in 10-day quarantine is Samuele Campo.
The team starts the Swiss league season on 20 September, just days after Basel presented the next Europa League in the qualifying round.
