Bayer Leverkusen coach talks about Kai Havertz’s tension amid links with Chelsea

Bayer Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz is confident that Kai Havertz is handling the tension of a potentially imminent move to Chelsea. Negotiations continue after Frank Lampard has made the 21-year-old his main goal.

Havertz played the full 90 minutes when Leverkusen beat Rangers 1-0 in the second leg of the last 16 Europa League games last night.

Moussa Diaby’s intention gave the Bundesliga a 4–1 victory and will face Inter Milan in the quarter-finals.

All eyes were fixed on Havertz when he told control of the club that he wanted to leave to sign for Chelsea.

The Blues have agreed non-public terms and are running the charges, with Leverkusen not easy at 90 million pounds.

The Germans will keep their midfield flexible until the end of their Europa League campaign.

And Bosz explained how he tried to protect Havertz: he supported the star to take over the pressure.

“We’re watching all this up close,” Bosz told DAZN and Goal. “Of the 20 interview requests, 18 must contact Kai. Then we have to make sure it doesn’t happen 18 times.

“He’s a remarkable player, but even wonderful players can have a bad day. If we lose, he’s the first to be criticized, even if he didn’t play badly.”

“I tell him a lot and how he saw his game. Then there are the matches as the opposite of Hertha Berlin, when the enthusiasts beeped his substitute.

“I told him that maybe he had learned the most in this game, where he wasn’t well.

“But Kai is a smart guy about the total and how the global works.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan has given his teammate Havertz a brilliant run.

“In my opinion, Havertz is even bigger than [Michael] Ballack in terms of skill,” Gundogan told Sport Bild.

“Ballack had a safe point of aggression in his game and a strong mindset.

“He’s the most sensible player of the past generation, a whore on the field, in a positive sense. Kai’s not like that.”

If Havertz arrives at Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks, he will be the third addition of the summer following transfers from Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
