LISBON, Portugal (AP) – Serge Gnabry led Bayern Munich to their first Champions League final in seven years, scoring two goals in the 3-0 win over Lyon on Wednesday.
After losing four semi-finals since the European Cup was lifted for the fifth time in 2013, the German champions will now face top-ranked Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon on Sunday.
While Lyon wasted his chances, Gnabry’s double in the first half extended his streak of good intentions in matches at a festival interrupted by a pandemic this season.
But Robert Lewandowski has scored in nine consecutive games, after leading Bayern’s third game in the 88th minute to score a total of 55 goals for the striker this season.
The loss of Lyon, in their first Champions League semi-final in a decade, means that the French team will not participate in any European festival next season after completing only seventh place in the shortened Ligue 1 season.
