FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness said he expects a resolution within a week on the new coach to update Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel leaves at the end of the season after Bayern were beaten in the Bundesliga by Bayer Leverkusen. The team will face Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals next week.
“I think we’re going to have a resolution within a week,” Hoeness said Friday in remarks reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.
Since Tuchel’s departure was announced in February, Bayern have been unable to sign Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso or German Julian Nagelsmann, who have opted to remain at their clubs. Austrian coach Ralf Rangnick, formerly of Manchester United, has since said he is in contact with Bayern.
