Thomas Tuchel’s first game at Bayern Munich may have emerged against more complicated opponents, as the former Chelsea player’s credentials will be put to the test against league leaders Borussia Dortmund in what could be called a potential name-maker.
Dortmund are the smartest in the Bundesliga with 53 problems in 25 games, just one point above their eternal rival, Bayern. A win for either team will boost morale and tip the naming race strongly in favor of the team that emerges victorious.
Tuchel, who in the past controlled Dortmund, will be keen to help the Bavarians turn the tide by winning Der Klassiker after Anthony Modeste’s equaliser in stoppage time prevented the hosts from taking all three points in their last meeting this season.
Given that Bayern have lost a home game in the league this season, it is possible that they will be the slight favorite in this game.
Bayern Munich XI (3-4-2-1): Sommer; Pavard, Upamecano, De Ligt; Coman, Kimmich, Goretzka, Davies; Sane, Muller; Choupo-Moting
Dortmund XI (4-3-3): Kobel; Wolf, Süle, Schlotterbeck, Ryerson; Bellingham, Can, Warrior; Brandt, Haller, Reus
Bayern Munich will face Freiburg back-to-back. Firstly, they will face others in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals on Tuesday, April 4, and then in the Bundesliga on Saturday, April 8.
