Harry Kane is very happy about the “incredible” reception he received on his return from Tottenham before giving Dominic Solanke a big stamp of approval.
The England captain enjoyed a triumphant return to Tottenham after his Bayern Munich side picked up a 3-2 friendly win at his former club on Saturday night.
It was the first time Kane had returned to his old home since his £100 million move last August.
He earned a standing ovation on the pitch for the final 10 minutes before taking part in a full-time solo lap of honour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“I’m very used to coming here as a local player, I’ve been here many times before, so it was to put that shirt on, be out in the locker room, but I like to take credit for the opportunities,” Kane said.
“I had a career at Spurs, a lot of wonderful memories and it was wonderful to see the enthusiasts again, so many players and staff that I have a wonderful relationship with.
“The game itself, I probably shouldn’t have played. I only trained but I was still going to play 10 minutes and that was good.
“Everything was rushed last year, so we didn’t have a chance (to say goodbye), but it was a wonderful way to say thank you to all of them.
“The reception I got was incredible and wonderful to cheer them on the field afterwards, those who stayed behind and I will be grateful to all the Spurs fans for the help they have given me throughout my career. It was incredible.
“I appreciate that they see me and that I see them again. “
Kane and Eric Dier, who left Spurs in January to join Bayern, received a special gift before kick-off in recognition of their service to the club.
Tottenham then opted to showcase new £65m signing Solanke alongside fellow summer arrivals Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.
Solanke, 26, took part in the friendly, but after scoring 21 goals in all competitions for Bournemouth last season, Kane has helped the England striker play for his former club.
Kane added: “Yes, it will be wonderful. Dom is a wonderful player, he plays with wonderful intensity and speed.
“Surely he will have opportunities in this team, because of the way Ange (Postecoglou) plays and you have noticed it with two wonderful groups facing each other.
“Yes, I think he is a very smart signing. I saw him in the locker room and I wished him all the best. I hope he has a smart season.
Dejan Kulusevski scored twice for Spurs, first in the first minute and again after the hour, Bayern clinched victory in a five-goal mystery after goals from Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller.
