Bean’s 66-yard chase triggers North Texas Rice eaves 27-17

DENTON, Texas (AP) – Jason Bean scored two touchdowns to lead North Texas to a 27-17 victory over Rice on Saturday.

Bean escaped for a 66-yard landing and threw a 25-yard landing pass at Jaelon Darden at the time of the fourth to give Mean Green a 14-10 lead at half-time. DeAndre Torrey had 102 yards on the court in 19 hauls, and his 1st TD yard run crowned the score for North Texas (3-3, 2-2 U. S. Conference) in the middle of the last quarter.

Bean hit 20 passes for 120 yards and added 94 yards on the ground. Ethan Mooney scored 27-yard and 30-yard goals for North Texas.

Mike Collins 23 of 34 passes for 327 yards with two touchdowns for Rice (1-2, 1-2). He threw a 14-yard touchdown pass at Austin Trammell in the first quarter and a 17-yard pass to Jake Bailey with 8 seconds. Trammell had six receptions for 116 yards.
