Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has suffered a setback and won’t now be available for Sunday’s game with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Welsh foreigner had returned to the competition following a hamstring injury suffered in the defeat to Bournemouth on December 5.
It was hoped he could bolster a backline that has seen a number of absentees including Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero with midfielder Archie Gray called in to deputise.

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Davies, 31, suffered a recurrence of the same challenge and is now ready to step aside.
When asked on Friday if he would be available, he replied: “No, he is governed, he had a setback in education and is governed for a few weeks.
“We have been in a complicated scenario and have been for some time. The nature of football and the calendar elements mean we have walked a fine line. This is another check for us. “
Postcoglou’s defence has been added through Radu Dragusin, who is forced to move into the final stages of the day after the Christmas defeat at Nottingham Forest.
The usual fellow Romanian Drugusin Gray at the Defense Center in recent games, although now he can also have an ankle injury problem.
“(It’s) a little early to say,” Postecoglou added. Last night, he tuned his ankle and felt he couldn’t continue. We have to wait and see.
The loss to Forest, the ninth of the season, left Spurs in 11th place in the Premier League standings.
They host Wolves on Sunday before welcoming Newcastle United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on January 4.
