Tommaso Berni left Inter this summer with an unbeatable but unwanted record, having not been able to appear as a bachelor in his six seasons at the club, but controlled to be expelled twice.
Samir Handanovic’s constant excellence for the nerazzurri made it difficult to win minutes in goal, and Berni spent his time at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as the third choice.
“It’s a record that few people can break,” Berni joked in an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.
“When you play you have to be focused. But from the outside you can see everything and you can’t unhook the adrenaline.
“So when you meet the referee…”
Although he has been on the pitch, the 37-year-old remains grateful for his time with Inter after past passes with Wimbledon, Ternana, Lazio, Salernitana, Braga, Sampdoria and Torino.
“I had a dream I imagined as a child,” Berni explained.
“I shared costumes with champions.
“I asked my agent to track me down a team [in 2014] and when he told me about Inter, I said, ‘Come on, don’t laugh at me.Find me something, even in Serie B.'”
Now, at the end of his career, Berni still doesn’t think about hanging up the gloves.
“I didn’t think about it [retirement],” Berni added.
“I am now of who I am when I am 20.”
