Big 12 announces revised schedule after progressing into the season

If things go according to plan, the big 12 will crown a champion in mid-December.

The Big 12 announced Wednesday that their league is adjusting to the 2020 football season provisionally scheduled for December 12. If necessary, the name would possibly be delayed until December 19.

The championship game originally scheduled for December 5. But with the 2020 football season changed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Big 12 has made some adjustments to its schedule.

The Big 12 released its revised convention schedule on Wednesday. In teleconvention, the commissioner of the Big 12, Bob Bowlsby, noted that the convention’s resolution of advancing has given some clarity to his coaches and athletes. From now on, the league game will begin on September 26. Each school has two reserved byes in the convention calendar.

The opening weekend of the convention will see Oklahoma, winner of five consecutive Big 12 titles, welcome Kansas State. The Wildcats were the convention team that defeated the Sooners last year. Also scheduled for this Saturday: Texas at Texas Tech; Kansas to Baylor; West Virginia, Oklahoma; and the state of Iowa in TCU.

The annual Oklahoma-Texas game will still be played on Saturday, October 10, at the Cotton Bowl. However, this year there will be no state of Texas.

Here are some of the highlights of the new Big 12 calendar:

State of Iowa in Oklahoma: October 24

TCU in Baylor: October 31

Baylor at Texas Tech: November 14

State of Iowa, Texas: November 28

Each of the top 12 schools can incorporate a team outside the conference this fall. In a press published Wednesday,
