The Big Ten and Pac-12 meetings will cancel their school football seasons tuesday due to the pandemic, according to a report through Dan Patrick.
The rectors and rectors of the ten major universities held an unscheduled assembly on Sunday night to vote, to the Associated Press.
“According to Dan’s source, 12 of the 14 presidents of the big 10 voted against an uptime season of school football,” a tweet from the Dan Patrick Show reads. “Iowa and Nebraska are the two who pushed the game.”
Paul Finebaum, ESPN’s school football expert, also reported that any of the leagues will most likely cancel their seasons.
“Right now you have the Big Ten and pac-12 that will say we’re done,” Finebaum said Monday in First Take.
“The Big Ten is obviously doing that,” he added. They need to cancel and there are every explanation of why the Big Ten will probably be canceled until [Tuesday]. “
Finebaum called the other 3 Power-5 meetings – the SEC, the CCA and the 12 grand – “free for all … As if three of the five could do this job. The school football playoffs are in all five meetings.”
Finebaum also quoted a SEC source who said, “We plan to play.”
The Big Ten, CCA and SEC published their schedules last week.
“There are so many signs combined,” Finebaum said. “Here’s a schedule, we’re starting to play and now we’re contemplating canceling. It’s pretty unimaginable how bad this game is, how dysfunctional it is, but they get what they deserve. There was no leadership at the top, there was no collaboration. »
Saturday’s Mid-American Conference, the first in the primary school football leagues to cancel the fall season.
Several Division 1 meetings have already canceled or postponed fall sports, adding the Ivy League, America East and Atlantic 10.
Last week, Divisions II and III canceled the fall championships, while UConn the First Division I scheduled last week to cancel its football season.
The commissioner of the Big 12, Bob Bowlsby, told the AP that no resolution had been made on the season, but admitted that the prospect had improved.
“Are we in a better position than we did two weeks ago? No, we’re not,” he said.
Bowlsby told AP that there is a growing fear of myocarditis, a center inflammation that has been discovered in some COVID-19 patients and can be a long-term complication even for young and healthy people.
