Wes Harding has sent an emotional message to Birmingham City enthusiasts after deciding to leave the club.
The 23-year-old has ended his stint with league rival Rotherham United, ending a Blues career that began when he left Aston Villa’s academy.
That was in 2013, when he rose through the ranks in Wast Hills to make 59 first-team appearances.
It was Garry Monk who gave him his great chance in the spring of 2018 and, although he does not have a first place on the team, he has proven to be a volunteer collaborator.
And he will be remembered on Blues, after his farewell message to the followers he posted on social media.
“At 16, I arrived in Birmingham to pursue a football career. Seven years later, I can proudly say that I have achieved this goal.
“I enjoyed my time in the box and delivered each and every one of the times.
“Thanks to the academy and the first team over the years I was founded, my colleagues who fed me and the enthusiasts who supported me.
“It’s an emotional farewell, I like the club, but it’s a good time to move on.
“I leave Birmingham with friendships and lasting memories.
“See you soon, keep going.”
Former Birmingham City midfielder Stephen Gleeson signed for Solihull Moors.
The 32-year-old has reached a one-season contract that will see him signed by former Blues players Adam Rooney, Mitch Hancox and Darren Carter on the National League team.
Former Blues Under-23 coach Richard Beale is also on the training team and has been a reunion with Gleeson for some time.
The defensive midfielder, despite everything, put the pen on paper and ended an eight-month clubless era since leaving Aberdeen in January.
“It’s exciting, I’m happy to start and get back to football. It’s close to home, the coach, Bealey, the project, everything I was looking for at this point in my career,” Gleeson told the club’s website.
“I’m able to start and start enjoying my football, I think it might be the right club for me.”
Birmingham City triallist Tom Scott made his first appearance with the club’s under-23s, months after his trial.
The 19-year-old played the 90 minutes of Friday’s friendly 1-0 win over West Brom, a match settled with a penalty by Josh Andrews in the first half.
Scott has been at Manchester City for five years, joined them from local club Leeds United in 2015 and has played for teams of different ages at Etihad.
His trial with Les Bleus was scheduled to begin a few days before the lockout in March, meaning he had to wait for the progression team to resume.
Scott, however, was able to demonstrate what he can do when the Blues 23 played for the first time since their 2-0 win over Hull on March 6.
Scott is lately a loose agent after being released through the City, but his appearance with the Blues is a casual arrangement and will have nothing to do with the club’s quest for a first-team goalkeeper after Lee Camp’s departure and Connal Trueman’s transfer to AFC Wimbledon.
There are a few weeks left before the start of the new championship season and the excitement has increased significantly since the full launch of the program on Friday.

Birmingham City begins its 2020/21 championship at Brentford’s.
The defeated play-off finalists will arrive at St Andrew’s on September 12 to kick off the delayed championship season for Aitor Karanka’s team.
Karanka, 46, has returned to control after an 18-month break to take over Blues this summer.
