Is it watching the Clippers compete right now without you? The team, of course, looks so different now.
I have the impression they didn’t have a gap between the two of us. It’s another team, but as a member of one of the teams, our purpose is to legitimize the Clippers and be in the race for the playoffs every year. I think we’re proud to know we’ve laid that base.
You may have noticed that the Detroit Pistons weren’t invited to the NBA bubble. After 66 games and only 20 wins, it’s understandable. In addition, they traded their most senior player, the affable Andre Drummond.
But it’s all bitter in Detroit.
The Pistons have a top coach at Dwane Casey, a budding star in Christian Wood, emerging players in Bruce Brown and Svi Mykhailiuk and a lottery selection that is lately projected at number four or 5. They also have one of the in the league. players, in case you’ve forgotten: Blake Griffin, still 31.
A year ago, Griffin had some kind of breakthrough in his second-wave career. He didn’t have the interference from the boys, but moving creatively around the midfield and suddenly exhausting all three. He released a monstrous season: 24.5 points, 7.5 tables, 5.4 assists. He was a member of the All-Star team, selected through the Giannis team, and then took Detroit to the playoffs. On the other hand, I was also uploading a podcast.
Considering that we’re in the era of podcasts hosted through NBA players and that Griffin’s established resume as an artist, the only wonder is that it took so long. The Pursuit of Healthiness, a weekly wellness series presented last week.
In the first episode, Griffin interviews actor Michael B. Jordan; the next episodes of Season 1 will feature Deepak Chopra, Chelsea Handler, Arianna Huffington and more. It’s not a typical athlete’s podcast, but Griffin has never been the typical athlete, especially on the ground. You probably crawled naked on the floor of a hotel room in an episode of Broad City.
At the launch of the show, Griffin spoke to B/R about how he was given in combination and his other off-court purpose: the Justice initiative for Julius Jones.
Why did you create your fitness and wellness podcast?
I’ve been interested in fitness and wellness for a long time. My mom was a very fit person, so she made us do other things from my friends. I make fish oil, which was not very popular in Oklahoma City in the 1990s, since I remember.
My brother and I drank green barley, a green juice, which is also not very popular in this area. At first, I think it led me not to think that being fit is a chore. I also have a primary in fitness and science. If I had to do a podcast, I might as well be in this domain to communicate with very attractive people, leaders in their fitness and wellness box.
Diversity of guests from Deepak Chopra to Michael B Jordan. Who is in the booking fee? And how did you choose to interview other NBA players?
I consciously sought to avoid things through an NBA lens, and I think I’ll be offering that attitude as this module progresses. In the first season, I sought to stay away from too many athletes or conversations that don’t apply to their average listener. I think it would be attractive to master the fitness and wellness box, from meditation to sleep, choice of medicine and cannabis.
Throughout the summer, he has been very concerned about supporting Julius Jones at his local Oklahoma.
(For those who don’t know, at the age of 19, Jones was convicted of first-degree murder in 2002, a crime he categorically insists he didn’t commit. Griffin, along with Russell Westbrook, Kim Kardashian West and many others, has taken action to announce recent evidence of Jones’ innocence. Jones, now 39, has been on death row for 18 years.
What prompted you to participate and use your platform?
Julius played for my father, who was a top basketball coach. My brother and I were at his games, in the gym and with those guys. When that happened (Jones’ arrest and conviction), we were surprised by the character of user heArray Julius.
As you age, you learn more about what is happening and you have more access to information, you get the impression that you have not been altered in a trial, and that you clearly pretend to be a pillar of our justice system. My total message on all of this was that he deserved the chance to tell his aspect of the story.
You can receive more information about Jones’ case here and send you a request here.
Have you been following the NBA bubble closely?
I’m seeing the Spurs-Nuggets now.
What do you think of the bubble?
It was smart to have games, and I think the NBA did a phenomenal job of creating that plan/bubble and making sure the guys are safe. This is a clever review of how the game works until we have a vaccine.
Chris Paul’s Thunder is very different from the groups led by Lob City. What do you think of OKC and his paintings there?
It’s a laugh to see those groups like that, I don’t know how many other people have scored it for the playoffs, or to be so good, but this team has its mark everywhere. He’s one of the most productive leaders in our game, and if he can build a team, it would be him.
Has it caught your attention any more?
I feel like TJ Warren played incredibly; had the game through 53 points. I think Anthony Davis seems smart. They’re missing Avery Bradley and some key pieces, so it’s smart to see him play well. I was disappointed that Jaren Jackson Jr. was hurt; he and Ja [Morant] were killing, and it would be quite fun to watch them fight for the last place.
Honestly, it’s smart to play basketball again.
Do you have a diagnosis for the final?
Outside the West, they were given to be The Lakers or the Clippers, and in the East, the Bucks. We didn’t even see a smart game between Lakers and Clippers. I feel like the first game, not Lou Will, it’s such a big piece, and Montrezl [Harrell] too. It’ll be fun to see those two teams.
