Blow to Newcastle move with £12 million target, Benjamin Rollheiser in a position to snub Toon for surprise move

It looks like EDDIE HOWE will miss a summer target with Benjamin Rollheiser heading to Zenit St Petersburg on a £12 million deal.

The 23-year-old Argentine attacking midfielder is on Newcastle manager Howe’s radar, along with other Premier League teams Burnley and Sheffield United who are also taking a look.

Rollheiser likes Prem, but the Russians are close to agreeing a payment with Argies Estudiantes and Zenit’s offer would possibly be too smart to refuse.

Newcastle have been busy in the moving market this summer, bringing 4 new players to St James’ Park.

Howe spent £120 million on Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento and Yankuba Minteh.

The Magpies are on the verge of making Lewis Hall from Chelsea their fifth summer signing.

And Howe insists the teenager will be the LAST to arrive at St James’ Park.

On the 18-year-old: “He is a player I like, very flexible and with a lot of potential.

“Let’s see what happens today.

“If we bring in a player, our play will end, unless there are injuries. “

Newcastle kicked off their Premier League crusade with a 5-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.

Howe praised Tonali’s £55m signing after his stellar performance and said: “You can see when he marked the excitement that came out.

“A big step. A start.

“Then the rest of his functionality followed that goal, where he was excellent.

“Now I hope he feels the affection of the fans.

“There will be an instant connection between him and them, and that can help. “
