Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund have already reached a full agreement for the transfer of Yan Couto, according to reports.

The Brazilian full-back has faced a dilemma in his top-level playing career in European football, having returned to the Etihad Stadium following his most successful loan spell to date away from Manchester City.

Having played a major role in Girona’s good fortune in next season’s UEFA Champions League, Couto was first expected to return to the Catalan club on another loan or permanent contract.

However, UEFA’s ruling has since prevented Girona and Manchester City from completing transfers between clubs, as both will compete in the same European club festival next season.

As such, Couto and his representatives have been forced to look for other imaginable opportunities and destinations around the European tournament, and a German solution seems to be their preferred direction away from the Etihad Stadium.

According to BILD, translated and broadcast via the BVB Newsblog on X, the Manchester City right-back is now on the verge of moving to Borussia Dortmund this summer.

It is explained that the Bundesliga team and the Etihad Stadium management “are not separated” when it comes to transfer fees: Manchester City is not easy with 30 million euros, while Dortmund contributes 20 million euros plus others 5 million euros in bonuses.

The negotiations are so complex that the report also notes that it remains “entirely possible” for the Brazilian foreign defender to sign up for Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season camp in Switzerland.

It’s a story. More to follow.
