Liverpool have especially stepped up their activity in the market this month, but the Reds may be in a position to make their first move in the window.
Martin Zubimendi is reportedly close to joining Liverpool, and Brentford also struck a deal to sign Fabio Carvalho for £27m, deals that have seen the Reds burst onto the move-in scene.
With Adam Wharton also on Liverpool’s radar, there is a genuine chance that the Anfield outfit will end the window with a flurry of activity, with new signings and a host of players expected to be shipped out in August.
However, according to rumours, a Liverpool target appears set to sign for Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund could soon close a deal to sign Maximilian Beier, according to Fabrizio Romano, as Liverpool have recently linked with the German foreigner as a possible offensive signing.

Romano said of Dortmund’s search for Beier: “Borussia Dortmund are sure that they will soon reach an agreement with Maxi Beier with Hoffenheim, talks are progressing. The personal terms are already agreed, as they were defined this week.
Hailed as “unbelievable” on the Bundesliga’s official website, the £26m striker would have been a genuine signing for Liverpool as they look to locate complex signings that could upgrade Mohamed Salah.
Still, with Dortmund firmly in mind to sign Beier, Liverpool’s quest to bring the striker to Merseyside appears to be over before it has begun, with the German set for the Bundesliga.
While the marks around Darwin Nunez and rumours of the departure of Luis Diaz and Salah persist, it is possible that a new attack has been welcomed in Liverpool this summer.
And Beier may have been the one who led Liverpool to the next generation under Slot, with the German foreigner being a truly incredible skill that could have thrived at Anfield under the Dutch coach.
Still, as we now know, it was Dortmund who won the race for Beier, and the German team could have struck a smart deal with the Hoffenheim striker, who could take his game to a new level with the Bundesliga giants.
