Borussia Dortmund’s head coach, Lucien Favre, believes Manchester United’s summer search for Jadon Sancho has affected the functionality of the winger this season. Sancho scored a goal in six Bundesliga appearances this quarter.
By contrast, he scored 20 in all competitions for Dortmund last season.
Favre had to fight to retain the 20-year-old in the previous exchange.
United had been watching former Manchester City youth all summer without meeting the August 10 deadline in Dortmund.
The Red Devils made an offer closer to the October 5 move-in deadline, but temporarily declined.
Dortmund had placed a value of 108 million pounds in their valuable asset and that valuation never came.

Sancho refused to force the move, but Favre believes the star has a hypothesis in his mind.
“All players have periods of slowdown,” Favre said. “There’s been a lot of communication about Jadon over the summer, as if that might be something [in a bad way]. “
He added: “No player is more productive in a total year, it’s impossible. You have to settle for it. “
United have spent the summer signing for Sancho and this has led former defenseist Patrice Evra to criticize his behavior.

“We don’t want to buy five, seven, ten players, but at least [get] your main goal,” Evra said.
“The main goal was Sancho, and it was shameful. We didn’t even make it. If we start the coronavirus as an excuse.

Meanwhile, Favre seeks to prepare his team to face Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League tomorrow.
“In my opinion, Zenit lost unnecessarily to the Witches. They missed some opportunities that show how harmful they are to a team,” Favre said.
“I won’t say anything about tomorrow’s team. I don’t need to give any data to our rivals, I have to perceive myself. “
