Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho: “Christian Pulisic is an inspiration to me”

Sancho joined Dortmund from Manchester City last summer hoping to find a chance to play at a point he would not have had in England.

After two replacement matches while settling at Hinrunde, the 17-year-old saw his ambition come true at the start of Ruckrunde’s first three games before an ankle injury in the 21-win round over Cologne left him out.

The setback, however, gave him the opportunity to see Pulisic, 19, work, and Sancho can’t talk enough about his teenage partner.

“When he plays, everything is so undeniable and normal. I have to be like this too,” the winner of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup told the Times.

“He is only two years older than me, yet what he has already accomplished with the United States, despite the enormous pressure on him, is an inspiration to me. “

Sancho’s admiration for Pulisic ignores the fact that the duo competes with Marco Reus, Maximilian Philipp, Shinji Kagawa and among them for a spot in Dortmund’s squad, central striker Michy Batshuayi.

“I am in a position to face Pulisic and the others,” Sancho said bravely, knowing that Dortmund will stay true to the philosophy that convinced him that Signal Iduna Park is the ideal position to continue his career.

“I looked at who plays there and who plays there. Many young players come to Dortmund and have better players.

“I thought, ” Wow! Maybe I will too. ” I need to be a part of this story. They proved that age is a factor.
