Boss Barry Robson has asked Aberdeen to be aware of their costly defensive errors in the 6-0 thrashing of Celtic.

The Dons’ recent positive momentum came to a halt with the tough defeat to the Premiership champions at Parkhead.

Robson admits the Reds were “too open” to the point that Celtic looked “capable of scoring every time” they attacked.

The Aberdeen manager was also frustrated during stoppage time when his side conceded three goals behind in stoppage time.

It was a damaging defeat that left Aberdeen in ninth place in the Premiership table, just two points behind last-placed Livingston.

However, the Dons have two in hand.

Robson will be asking for an early recovery after the break in Aberdeen’s next home game against Rangers on Sunday, November 26.

Robson said: “We have to be informed that we can’t let ourselves open.

“Once you lose that third goal, you have to have a design and fight.

“But it seemed like we were too open and they could score every time.

“We have to be informed that you can’t do that, especially in a stadium like Parkhead.

“You can’t go to Parkhead and not be around other people and not play.

“If you lose a purpose, you have to keep the mix and reach out to others, but we never did that. “

Aberdeen have won once in the last 36 league games at Parkhead, squandering 34 and drawing them.

Robson has faced Celtic three times away from home since taking over as Aberdeen manager in January. All ended in heavy defeats, with the Reds 4-0 in Glasgow in February and 5-0 in May.

Robson insists it’s not just defensively that the Reds have underperformed, saying it’s also the case for his entire team.

He also revealed the main points of his team’s halftime discussion in the Parkhead locker room in an effort to resurrect the Dons in the game.

Robson said: “It wasn’t enough all over the field.

“We were passive in the first half.

“We spoke to them at half-time and told them we wanted to get closer to the players.

“We have to check that to force them to back down and exert more pressure.

“For the first 15 minutes of the second half, we had to get to where we wanted to be.

“In the second half, we tried to get back into the game, and then the penalty (that made it 3-0) turned the game around.

“After that, we have to see if we can lose more goals.

“Within 10 minutes, they opened us up.

“Then we lost one and it wasn’t enough. The players know that.

“We want to have a bigger, more powerful design together.

“We lost three goals, so we have to organize ourselves and help others, but we’ve never done that. “

Aberdeen’s heavy defeat at Parkhead came less than hours after a 2-2 draw against Europa Conference League Group G leaders PAOK in Greece.

The Dons ended PAOK’s record of 100 percent in Conference League teams this season.

However, the demands of the clash at the Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki have taken their toll.

The Reds have struggled to balance Euro action this season with internal commitments, despite an extensive rebuild of the summer transfer window.

Of the six post-European Championship Premiership games this season, the Dons won just one, drew two and wasted three.

Robson accepts full blame for Parkhead’s punches.

He said: “We have performed in a lot of important games recently, but we have never played against Celtic.

“I take on my responsibilities because I’m the director of the club. “
