While the school football playoffs were never in jeopardy, the rest of the bowling season had unclear prospects.
Simply put, there were too many unanswered questions would games be a priority?Wouldn’t schools move to a fanless game in several states? Will enough groups end up with the six wins needed to be eligible for the bowl?
Now that the FBS convention has announced its return, the first two questions are being addressed. In addition, the NCAA will likely waive bowl eligibility needs by 2020.
Yes, the calendar itself wants to develop, because the normal season ends in mid-December, which is when bowling begins, but after several months of uncertainty about the playoffs, it’s refreshing to have a full bowling slate on the way.
Note: The Bahamas, Hawaii and RedBox Bowls will be played.
College playoffs
Sugar Bowl (January 1): Clemson vs. Georgia
Rose Bowl (January 1): Alabama v Ohio State
After 3 directly comfortable victories, Clemson is preparing for a showdown with Miami, seventh in Week 6 If the Tigers back up their ad as big favorites, it’s hard to see anyone other than Notre Dame keeping up with Clemson, who is looking for the sixth year in a row for school playoffs.
Alabama showed dominant in its first two games, most recently a 52-24 win over Texas A
As long as the result is not a burst, the wasting equipment will not be removed from the CFP count. Oklahoma and Texas already have 12 major losses, leaving Oklahoma State as the last undefeated team in the league. In addition, the Pac-12 has a reduced schedule and has no transparent favorites.
The CCA and SEC are well placed for a moment, the PSC team.
The state of Ohio, which has long been the big favorite of the ten, completes the group.
Six New Year’s Bowls
Cotton Bowl (December 30): Oklahoma State vs. BYU
Peach Bowl (January 1): Miami vs. Miami Cincinnati
Fiesta Bowl (January 2): Oregon vs. Oregon Penn State
Orange Bowl (January 2): Notre Dame vs. Florida
Think of it as a vote of confidence in the state of Oklahoma winning the Big 12, but not as an undefeated team. YU, on the other hand, achieves a good rhythm at the best record while completing the normal season very well ranked. It’s just that the Cougars have a weak schedule, which probably curbs any expectations about the PSC.
BYU, however, is included in the Group of Five automatic spot for a New Year’s bowl, meaning that the AAC champion, who in this screening is Cincinnati, would win a NY6 offer.
As the Rose Bowl is a semi-final of the CFP, the Fiesta Bowl is expected to get a Pac-12 school for geographical reasons. Notre Dame is a logical selection with Penn State, but a position at the time in the ACC would send the Irish to the Orange Bowl.
Florida would be the top-ranked SEC team, Alabama and Georgia, giving the Gators a moment of consecutive vacation at the Orange Bowl; however, they would not face their state rival, Miami, unless the Canes beat Notre Dame in the ACC standings.
