Bowling projections: Making sense of an uncertain season of college football

It was intended to be the largest playoff series in school football history with 43 bowling games scheduled to conclude the 2020 season. Things are now looking very different as only 76 groups are scheduled to play this fall.

You don’t want a bachelor’s degree in math to perceive that 76 groups can’t fill all the places, which is unclear is what games will take place, the traditional clashes between the SEC-Big Ten or the Big 12-Pac-12 will have to be adjusted if you are going to play games like Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl and Alamo Bowl.

The criteria used to choose the groups will also need to change. The same threshold of six wins is unrealistic with reduced schedules, and schools with waste records will be required to complete the available inventory. This, of course, assumes that the season is over and that there are postseason games.

That said, this pre-season edition of this year’s USA TODAY Sports Bowl projections reflects the uncertainty of betting like a pandemic. This will start only with the school football playoffs and all six New Year games.Games will be added to the season if there is more clarity.given what the playoffs look like.

With only 3 Power Five meetings in action, it’s almost guaranteed that a league will get two spots in the playoffs. It is possible, though unlikely, that the CCA or the Big 12 are just this conference. It is also unlikely that a Group of Five team will make its way in the last four.

This means you’ll probably see two SEC groups on the ground, which are interesting. With an unprecedented 10-game convention calendar, everyone will be blindfolded along the way, but the cream keeps climbing to the top.
