Branislav Ivanovic in surprise position returns to the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion hopes to sign former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on Monday after undergoing a medical examination.

The 36-year-old loose agent is for the papers of the past Zenit St Petersburg Club before signing a one-year contract.

West Brom maintained interest in Watford’s Andre Gray and Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Ivanovic joined Zenit from Les Bleus in 2017 and has played 125 games in more than 3 seasons and one part.

Previously, the maraudering back had spent 10 years at Stamford Bridge in a trophy-laden period that helped him win the Champions League, Europa League, 3 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups and the League Cup.

He is ready to be the sixth recruit of the new Premier League boys with Slaven Bilic after the summer arrivals of Grady Diangana, Matheus Pereira, David Button, Cedric Kipre and Callum Robinson.
