SAO PAULO (AP) – A high-level trial allowed a high-level Brazilian player to take a position on Sunday despite the threat of COVID-19 contagion among players.
Just a few minutes before the scheduled start, Brasilia’s working sentence over Luiz Philippe Vieira de Mello Filho overset two court terms to allow Palmeiras and protective champion Flamengo to play the adjustment in Sao Paulo.
The attack ended 1-1 with Flamengo aligning several young players after 20 team members underwent coronavirus testing last week.
Flamengo had asked the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to postpone the match, but football disagreed.
The leaders of the Flamengo club in Rio de Janeiro were among the most powerful supporters of a return to the game in Brazil, along with President Jair Bolsonaro.
More than 140,000 people are reportedly killed by COVID-19 in Brazil, in the United States alone, where more than 200,000 deaths have been attributed to the pandemic.
On Saturday, the most sensitive Brazilian club said it had disorders with the virus, while Rio-based Fluminense said it had at least five players with COVID-19, a figure that can rise before Monday’s match against Curitiba.
