Brees launches 2 touchdowns, Lutz hits FG in overtime, Saints beat bears

CHICAGO (AP) – Drew Brees released two touchdowns to regain the NFL’s all-time lead over Tom Brady, Wil Lutz had a 35-yard boxing purpose and the New Orleans Saints beat Chicago 26-23 on Sunday.

Cairo Santos of the Bears launched a 51-yard box purpose at the end of the deal to force overtime.

The Saints (5-2) led 23-13 at the start of the last quarter after scoring 20 consecutive points, to place the Chicago Rally in the final minutes of regulation, but the three-time NFC South protective champion earned his fourth consecutive victory when Lutz connected at his time of OT possession.

The Saints had a first check-out in the 16th when coach Sean Payton called him and Lutz served, sending the Bears (5-3) straight to their moment of defeat. New Orleans tied Tampa Bay for the leadership of the department, with Brady and the Buccaneers gathering the suffering New York Giants on Monday night.

Chicago catcher Javon Wims was sent off for hitting New Orleans safety C. J. Gardner-Johnson in the third quarter. Marshon Lattimore intercepted Nick Foles, leading to a tie through Lutz.

Brees added a 20-yard landing to Taysom Hill to put the score 23-13 early in the fourth period. The Bears (5-3) fired less than 3 with 3:32 for playing at Foles’ 3-yard line for Darnell Mooney.

After the Saints made three or so, Chicago tied with thirteen seconds to play in Santos’ basket in the wind.

Brees decided on the Midway Monsters, completing 31 passes from 41 to 280 meters. With TD to Hill in the fourth, he threw a 16-yard shot at Jared Cook in the final seconds of the first half to reduce Chicago’s lead to 13-10. Brees now has 560 touchdowns in his career, with Brady in 559.

Alvin Kamara joined Matt Forte and LaDainian Tomlinson as the only ball carriers in NFL history with 50 or more receptions in their first four seasons. The three-time Pro Bowl selection had nine receptions, which gave him 55 of the year, for 96 yards. He also ran for 67 yards and the Saints won their sixth game directly opposite the Bears.

Foles finished 28 for 272 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Allen Robinson, who spent most of the week in NFL concussion protocol, had a wide 24-yard TD reception at the back of the finish area in the last quarter. Rookie Darnell Mooney added a 69-yard run record and a touchdown.

David ran for the top 89 yards of the season, but the Bears failed after being ruled by the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
